They said he was in the waiting room for me.
They said he had something alive with him.
I asked if it was a chicken.
They said no.
Because he has teased me that he would bring me one.
Old farmers ~ you can never tell if they are kidding.. or not.

A darling old farmer friend sat ~ in his plaid shirt holding a small red basket~ waiting.
He said he found them in the driveway.
In an abandoned nest.
Wasn't sure what kind of eggs they were, but..
he thought of the "egg lady".
Me.
Don't know what kind of bird they are from but..
they are the sweetest little eggs I'll ever have.
Hope he knows how much he just melted my heart...

Oh, Leigh, you have an admirer!!!! How sweet is that?!
Are they maybe killdeer eggs?
The eggs look just like my Quail eggs.
I second Barbara, these look exactly like quail eggs. How large are they?
Those are pretty little things!
Your expecting!
I can't wait to see what "they" are...
This is so sweet...good luck mama.
They are beautiful...what a sweet gift. It reminds me of the time my friend gave me a box of apricots with the sweetest birds nest nestled on top. I cried. It was the perfect gift...
I did a search...I came across killdeers...white eggs with black speckles...you think?
Those are too cute!
Sandy
I think they are Killdeer. I have a pic I can e-mail you with eggs and with babies... They usually lay their eggs on flat ground, rocks or pasture...
They're beautiful!
Ohhh, reminds me of my lovely Dad, thats` the sort of thing my darling old farmer would have done . . .
these are gorgeous.
Now how sweet is this?! Plaid shirt, little red basket, and the perfect little eggs... I love it all! That must've made your day.
Hope you're enjoying a beautiful weekend!
What a sweet little gift! I have never seen eggs like that! They're pretty!
dear, dear farmer.
good luck with them, mama bird.
that sounds like the title to a very, very good book.
"the farmer and the egg lady"
what a lovely encounter.
What a sweet farmer friend! Love those eggs; they're so pretty.
this is so sweet leigh, what beautiful photos. will your hens be up for hatching them!? : )
Gosh those eggs remind me of chocolate speckled eggs. Beautiful photo.
Too sweet! Both farmer and eggs! What a nice blessing!
my guess because of shape color and location would be Killdeer.
Oh, that is so sweet. They certainly are cute little eggs!
Unfortunatly tha nest was probably not abandoned. Kildeers act injured to lure predators away from the nest. If Momma was away, it would appear to be abandoned. It would be great if you could return them to the nest. If it has been too long, consider giving them to a wildlife rehabilitator.
Such a sweet story. What a beautiful reminder to you each day that you have touched someone's life...and he wished to return the favor.
So perfect for you!
