Current conditions: 75% humidity and rain.
What's on my mind: soup, namely potato.
I am a long time fan of James Beard's An Old Leek and Potato Soup. After reading the book and seeing the movie Julie & Julia, I was intrigued to open my copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking again. You can bet you'll never see an aspic come out of this kitchen. Duck, boning of, on page 570 isn't going to happen either, BUT Potage Parmentier (onion and potato soup) is on the menu for dinner tonight.
The recipes are similar: Onion, potato, chicken broth, salt, and butter. I am afraid however, James has won my heart over. It's his touches of cayenne and nutmeg that make this recipe sing.
Not to worry Julia, I can't wait to try some crepes and of course.. Boeuf Bourguignon!
