July

Peaches from the farm market this week.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen during July and August. The garden is hitting full tilt. The farm markets are bursting with delicious fruit. Like a lot of you out there, I love it! The weather here this past week has been pretty soggy, so I've been enjoying the kitchen even more. Turn on the radio and throw open the back door... the coffee is on!!

Granola recipe pressed into bars - in layer of parchment paper.

This weekend, on top of the mountain of green and yellow beans coming through the back door, I made some time for cookies, granola, artisan bread, and peach jam. Oh, and a few more bags of zucchini shreds for the freezer.

Morning glory and Moon flowers on top of bean tower.

With all the rain, the garden is pretty much looking like the land of the jolly-green-giant. I won't mention the weeds. Planning to attack those on Tuesday.

Jars of fresh peach jam.

The breeze has picked up and the sun has decided to come out as the day comes to an end. Just in time for a peach jam shot! Hope you all had a great weekend! See ya on Wednesday...

okay, the pictures themselves are divine!! I can only imagine how good everything taste!!

so, as far as the zucchini do I just shred and freeze?

I have just brought in two more from the garden. Made two loaves of zucchini bread this afternoon, zucchini pasta for dinner last night and zucchini muffins last week.

It is starting to come out of my ears.

your granola bars look delicious! i might have to make some of those this week. though i've been avoiding my kitchen because it is far too hot here - hovering near 100. i'm hoping my family will agree to my plan to eat watermelon for dinner. the peach jam shot is gorgeous!

I bought my first peaches of the season today so in a week or so I'll be making my batches of peach jam. I think I'll also be trying those granola bars as well!

I saw your post on Under the Big Blue Sky page. I thought I'd tell you a cute thing that happened yesterday. We are vacationing right now and yesterday, my 2 1/2 yr old son and I were in the "kiddie" pool where there was a little bee trying to get out of the water. I told my son to be careful of the bee, and the little 7 year old girl said, "My sister always puts bees on a leaf to take them out of water." So I did that (ahem). Then she told me, "I hate bees." I said, "But bees make..."
"I know, I know," she said, "they make honey." I said, "Well, what's your favorite fruit?"
"The one that's kind of orange colored. I can't remember what it's called."
"An orange?" I asked. "Noooo..." she said. "A mango?" "No...." I couldn't think of another orange fruit quick enough because she was becoming very bored with our conversation (cantaloupe, I'm guessing?) But I said to her, "Whatever it is, without bees you wouldn't be able to eat it." Unfortunately, I probably sounded too preachy (after being reminded by her to take the bee out of the water!)...and I think it all fell on deaf ears...oh well...

You amazing creature, YOU!

I would really really pretty-please like the granola bar recipe.

Peach jam! You're killing me! We won't get peaches until September. As in the fall. Ugh.

Enjoy! There's nothing like time in the kitchen, love it!

I would love that recipe for the granola bars too. I used to make granola years ago but quit as I tended to eat too much of it. I never made the bars though.
