Chicken Bench

View of "chicken bench" area in barn lean-to.

You may be asking yourself.. what is a chicken bench?  Well, it is kind of a workbench/workstation my Mom set up for me in the lean-to of the barn.  Since our chicken coop is mobile, I really don't have a place to store chicken care items in the coop.  She set up this great twig table and shelf for me to use.   Feed container, poop-scoop container, garden mulch hauling container on bottom of bench.  Miscellaneous gloves for bees and gardening are clipped on a holder she made from clothespins.  Shelf holds beekeeping tools and a year-round poster of bee care.  I fell in love immediately.

What a great space! Your mom sounds great...she seems to be quite an encourager...

(and just because I think it's funny and appropriate when commenting at your blog...the Word Verification is "sting". Funny.)

Love it! I built a small (very small) ante room as you step into the coop for this same reason. So you enter the main door then another coop door 4 feet later. That way I could do just what you are doing. Store feed and supplies in easy reach.

I love it too. Our set up is similar to Heathers. We just cleaned the coop yesterday for the ladies.

What a lovely spot! That chicken feed container isn't very big. Are they eating mostly bugs?

I am just trying to figure out what to do with the chicken accoutrements, as they just moved out to the coop this weekend. We have a garden shed right next to the coop, but it is packed to the gills. I will probably need to clear a spot so I can at least squeeze in food.

Jeanette - don't let them fool you. The 50lb bag of food is in the garage! I haul it out in smaller buckets. They probably get at least 8 cups of food in the trough a day!
