We thought it was time to name the hives and cut down on some of the confusion. Meet Queen Ann!

We are so lucky that the bear found the bird feeder before he found the hives. The next morning Dad didn't waste any time adding a bit of electric fence around the hives. We use a solar powered electric fence to keep the deer out of the garden, so running a link around the bees was easy. Maybe it will be enough to give the bear the idea to KEEP OUT!!

I still can't believe I am posting this, but a BEAR was on our pergola porch last night attacking our bird feeder. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it! Adult black bear. NOT afraid. Also ate my mother's birdseed and feeder....

Hmmmm...put a call into the game commissioner. Seems we need a trap.
