Swarm Season

It has been an interesting week!  We have had a total of FIVE swarms this week.  Not sure if they are all from our hives, some for sure, but maybe not five?  After investigating the hives and with the help of a new friend, the swarms have found new homes.  Two with us, three with a friend.   We did find queen cells in two of the hives and have since tried dividing them.  Guess we'll see how it goes?

I've been told due to the cold wet weather we've had so far this spring, it's a "year for swarming."

You can say that again!!

I love hearing about your bees, Leigh. I told my friend in NY about you--she has started keeping bees, too, and is learning. Wonderful!

Oh, it is SO the year of swarming...we've had as many calls in one week than we had in one month last season...it's been crazy! But a good kind of crazy! We've been able to rehome all the swarms we rescued...and I've kept three!
Love your blog and flickr stream! :-)
